Diving with Bluefin Tuna
Description Activity price options
This activity offers visitors the unique opportunity to dive amongst Bluefin Tuna just off the shore of St. Paul’s Bay. Bluefin tunas are a large and beautiful species of fish that are common to the Mediterranean. This is a rare opportunity, only availabile in Malta, to try out diving so close to these amazing creatures!
The Tuna fish are between 80 to 150kg and there are about 900 in the pen! Towards the end of summer the fish can reach up to 500kg! The trips are timed around feeding time so that your group can throw the food (frozen fish) to the tuna, and the tuna will swim right to the surface (very fast) to take the food. This is a pretty exhilarating experience.
Visitors can choose to either dive or snorkel with the fish. All diving equipment is provided. The trip (including speedboat ride) lasts around two hours and includes half an hour in the water with the tuna. Hand-feeding the fish might also be possible - an exceptional experience that you will love!
Please note that a medical declaration form must be completed for all scuba diving activities. If you have a medical condition and require an examination by a doctor in Malta then there is an additional charge for this which must be paid locally to the dive centre before you start diving.
